Baked Chocolate Doughnuts Recipe

A doughnut or donut is a type of fried dough confectionery or dessert food. The doughnut is popular in many countries and prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls, and franchised specialty outlets.


  • 2 cups cake flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil

For the glaze:

  • 1¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 to 4 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and coat the pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  3. Add the buttermilk, eggs and oil. Stir until fully combined.
  4. Using a piping bag, fill the pan about ⅔ full.
  5. Bake for 8 minutes. Leave the doughnuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before cooling on the rack.

For the glaze:

  1. Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa into a bowl. Add the milk and vanilla. Thin with additional milk if needed.
  2. Dip the doughnuts into the glaze and let them set on the cooling rack
