Lee Min Ho's 'Fun Meet' in Manila

Korean superstar Lee Min Ho, known to many Filipinos for his role as Gu Jun-pyo of the hit series “Boys Over Flowers,” returned to Manila on Tuesday to grace the Philippine grand launch of a popular fried chicken chain.

Fans waited in front of the Theater Mall at Greenhills in San Juan as early as lunchtime to get a glimpse of Lee, who is one of the celebrity endorsers of the Korean fried chicken restaurant Kyochon.

Areas surrounding the venue of the “fun meet” were closed to vehicular traffic on Tuesday afternoon, with bouncers and marshals maintaining tight security as some fans attempted to get close to the stage.

Lee emerged on stage at around 6 p.m., drawing cheers and screams from the largely female crowd. Speaking in Korean as translated by host Sam Oh, the actor said he is happy to be back for his Filipino fans.

After the brief interview with Oh, Lee handed out autographs to selected fans and signed a table, which will be displayed at Kyochon when it opens to the public.
