In Jakarta, Indonesia a blind Sumatran orangutan has undergone a cataract surgery. This is the first time that such surgery for orangutan occurred in Indonesia.
40 year old, Gober the mother orangutan went blind in 2008 due to cataracts. Since then Gober was captured for safety. In 2011, she gave birth to a twins as part of the breeding program.
Last Thursday, the operation for removing cataract on Gober was announced as a success. This made the mama orangutan sees her twin babies for the first time.
Now they are a happy family!
